We Dance!

2017-18 Fall Classes

– Appropriate dance shoes and attire is mandatory for all classes –

Creative-Motion (3-4 yrs)
Instructor: Miss Stefanie Lillion

45 Minute Class/Week

A class designed for our youngest dancers.  This program utilizes playful songs and basic dance moves to engage the students attention and imagination.  The purpose is to introduce ballet and tap basics, develop listening skills, and musical awareness.
Required Dance Attire: Leotard, tights, #150 Classic Pink Ballet Shoe and #801 Black Tap Shoe. Jazz shorts & ballet skirts are acceptable. Dancers must have hair pulled up and away from face.

Kinder-Motion (5-6 yrs)
Instructor: Miss Stefanie Lillion

1 Hour Class/Week

As an extension of Creative-Motion, students are encouraged to explore and expand their knowledge of basic ballet and tap steps through the use of playful songs and dance to engage the students attention and imagination.  Jazz is introduced as a new exhilarating form of dance.
Required Dance Attire: Leotard, tights, #150 Classic Pink Ballet Shoe and #801 Black Tap Shoe. Jazz shorts & ballet skirts are acceptable. Dancers must have hair pulled up and away from face.

Primary (7-9 yrs)
Instructor: Miss Stefanie Lillion

1 & 1/2 Hours Class/Week

Beginner ballet, jazz & tap technique class.  Students are introduced to barre and center floor work, new terminology, and traveling combinations across the floor.  Introduction to turns, leaps, and progressions in jazz help to strengthen the students endurance and expand their knowledge of dance.  Students also gain a greater sense of rhythm through the basics of tap combinations.
Required Dance Attire: Leotard, tights, #150 Classic Pink Ballet Shoe and #801 Black Tap Shoe. Jazz shorts & ballet skirts are acceptable. Dancers must have hair pulled up and away from face.

Intermediate I (8-13 yrs)
Instructor: Miss Stefaine Lillion

1 & 1/2 Hour Class/Week

A continuation of Primary. Knowledge of ballet and jazz technique is expanded through progressions and turn combinations across the floor. Students are introduced to more complicated tap rhythms to advance the dancers speed and expand their knowledge of tap technique.
Required Dance Attire: Leotard, tights, #150 Pink Ballet Shoe, #476 Tan Jazz Shoe, and #501 Black Tap Shoe. Jazz shorts, jazz pants, ballet skirts, are acceptable. Dancers must have hair pulled up in a bun and away from face.

Intermediate II (10+ yrs)
Instructors: Miss Stefanie Lillion (Jazz/Tap) & Ms Kim Mays (Ballet)

2 Hour Class/Week (Combined with Ballet I/II)

Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with traditional jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. Tap technique will focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. We emphasize developing proper tap technique and producing clear tap sounds.
Required Dance Attire: Leotard, tights, #150 Pink Ballet Shoe, #476 Tan Jazz Shoe and #501 Black Tap Shoe.  Jazz shorts, jazz pants, ballet skirts, are acceptable. Dancers must have hair pulled up in a bun and away from face.

Teen Jazz & Tap
Instructor: Miss Stefanie Lillion

1 Hour Class/Week (13+ yrs)

Varios jazz and tap techniques will be explored. Students will be challenged with new jazz and tap steps and progressions. Dancers will have fun in this age appropriate class. *Ballet shoes are not required.
Required Dance Attire: Leotard, tights,  #476 Tan Jazz Shoe and #501 Black Tap Shoe.  Jazz shorts, jazz pants, ballet skirts, are acceptable. Dancers must have hair pulled up in a bun and away from face.

 

Ballet I, II, III, IV & V
Instructor: Miss Stefanie Lillion

1 & 1 1/2 Hour Class/Week (8+/Teacher Placement)

Students learn classical ballet technique and terminolgy. Each class includes barre exercises, center work, and across-the-floor combinations. This class focuses on correct execution, control and balance. Students start at the barre and move on to center and floor work to both challenge and strengthen the dancer. Ballet terminology is used throughout the class and students are encouraged to learn combinations quickly.
Required Dance Attire: Black leotard, pink tights, ballet skirts are acceptable.  #160 Canvas Classic Pink Ballet Shoe. FootUndeez are not allowed for class.  Dancers must have hair pulled up in a bun and away from face.

Pointe (Teacher Placement)
Instructor: Ms Kim Mays

1 Hour Class/Week (Must be enrolled in Ballet)

Students learn the proper technique en pointe. Emphasis on strengthening the dancers feet and correct foot placement, as well as study the proper techniques for the execution of more difficult steps.
Required Dance Attire: Black leotard, pink tights, ballet skirts are acceptable.  Pointe Shoes. Dancers must have hair pulled up in a bun and away from face.
